clubSENsational provides the opportunity to enjoy a fun, structured, and engaging climbing session led by a skilled climber from our team of autism specialists.
Climbing is an activity that offers numerous benefits for individuals with autism and/or learning difficulties, as it aids in enhancing fundamental movement skills such as agility, balance, and coordination.
We believe that precise processes of motor development are essential for further growth in cognitive, emotional, and social areas. To support understanding and set clear expectations for both verbal and non-verbal students, we integrate visual aids into our sessions. This approach encourages greater engagement and comprehension of the activities at hand.
Our individualised sessions help clients gain valuable experience and confidence while developing the vestibular system. Additionally, these sessions provide proprioceptive input, which enhances awareness of body movement in relation to its joints. By fostering a supportive environment, we aim to empower our clients to thrive both in climbing and beyond.
At clubSENsational, we understand that everyone has unique needs when accessing climbing activities. That is why our climbing sessions are personalised to each student’s individual requirements, making climbing more than just a lesson.
We provide personalized, one-on-one support during each session to meet every student’s unique needs. By embracing a person centred approach, we tailor our sessions around their strengths and challenges, fostering an environment where they feel valued and understood. We aim to adapt to each student, empowering them to thrive in their learning journey.
We believe in the importance of verbal and nonverbal communication. To make learning more engaging, we use resources like mini-schedules, routine lists, instruction grids, first, next, and then boards, and Augmented Alternative Communication boards. This allows each student to learn at their own speed, providing a customized learning experience. Each session is well-structured, with clear expectations and a familiar routine, helping students feel safe and confident as they progress.
We prioritize fostering a calm and supportive environment that enhances emotional regulation. Using sensory-appropriate techniques empowers students to manage their emotions effectively and feel comfortable in various settings, leading to a positive and enjoyable experience. Our instructors build trust and focus on each individual’s unique needs, encouraging communication, confidence, and emotional well-being growth.
